Nina Kim’s play BROKEN ENGLISH will be a part of IAMA Theatre Company’s Pass the Mic Festival. Pass the Mic is a virtual play festival intended to “Pass the Mic” and amplify voices of the Global Majority consisting of an evening of short plays, live monologues, musical guests, and video montages of various diverse theatres across the country. This annual festival includes a town-hall-like discussion with artists and special guests to discuss what actions we all can take to continue supporting the movement beyond the evening. Jacob Marx Rice‘s short film, See Through, will screen at this year’s Austin Film Festival. The film stars Tony-Nominee Lauren Ridloff, who will appear in Marvel’s Eternals later this month. Jessie and Brian, a young deaf couple, recently discovered they are about to become parents. Phanésia Pharel is one of the recipients of the Greater Good Commission mini grants, which have been awarded to LGBTQIA+ Latinx playwrights to write short plays, innovative forms, that reflect the times. Her short play, DOMESTICATION, PLEASE, will be presented at the second annual Greater Good Theater Festival produced by the Latinx Playwrights Circle (LPC) and Pregones Theater/PRTT, streaming online in the fall.
