Now Accepting Applications for the 2022-23 Directing Apprenticeship Program

PlayGround-NY, NYC’s leading playwright incubator, is now looking for the next generation of great directors. PlayGround invites early-career and aspiring directors resident in New York City, San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles, or Chicago to apply for the 2022-23 Directing Apprenticeship program. Up to three directing apprentices will be selected in each region to assist with/observe three rounds of the Monday Night PlayGround staged reading series (90 minutes of rehearsal and brief tech for each round) and then receive their Monday Night PlayGround directing debut in one of the remaining rounds.

Other opportunities available to PlayGround-NY Directing Apprentices include: participation in the monthly Monday Night PlayGround script selections; virtual attendance at the monthly in-house Recess play readings; opportunity to assistant direct for PlayGround-NY main stage productions; and invitation to PlayGround Resident Playwright and Alumni in-house play readings.
