Howard Ho is a Finalist in the Samuel French OOB Festival! His play BEETHOVEN’S THIRD will be presented in a staged reading on August 13th 6:30pm at the Vineyard Theatre. BEETHOVEN’S THIRD was originally developed for Playground-NY. It will be directed by fellow Playground-NY artist Jully Lee. Tickets are available here.

Jully Lee is directing BEETHOVEN’S THIRD by Howard Ho at the 49th Annual Samuel French Off-Off Broadway Short Play Festival on August 13 (originally written for Playground’s Oct 2023 prompt: ORIGIN STORY!) Jully will also be performing in staged readings of JESA by Jeena Yi with Ma-Yi Theatre on August 2 and in ARITICIAL by Prince Gomolvilas with Boise Contemporary Theatre as part of their BIPOC Playwrights Festival on August 26.

Lyra Nalan‘s new sci-fi play Chuan & Eve will have a staged-reading at Three Brothers Theatre on August 3rdas part of the Waukegan Theater Festival in Waukegan, IL. Directed by Joel Willison. Tickets available here.

Julia Brothers has been cast in the upcoming production of SUMP’N LIKE WINGS at The Mint Theater. The play was written by Lynn Riggs, who also wrote the play “Green Grow The Lilacs” upon which the musical “Oklahoma” is based. Sump’n Like Wings was published in 1928 but was never produced. It is a beautiful, funny, and sometimes painful look at The lives of women in 1916 Oklahoma that is eerily relevant today. I am going to be in the world premier of a play written almost 100 years ago! Raelle Myrick Hodges is directing. Info and tickets here.

Danielle E. Moore‘s new musical Ink & Paint sold out its developmental run at the Santa Monica Playhouse earlier this month before its SheLA Festival debut, which is now available to stream through 7/30. Info available here. Danielle is currently a composer in the Alliance for New Music-Theatre / Nautilus Music Theater Composer-Librettist studio in D.C.

Bram Hartman is pleased to have been selected as a 2024 Lambda Literary Fellow and will be participating in the Lambda retreat this month under the guidance of Roger Q Mason. He is also performing his own one person show, The Big Boy City, with PlayGround-NY Director Jackson Bradshaw at the helm, at the Chain Theatre Summer One Act Festival here in NYC this month. Bailey Jordan Garcia is receiving a production of their play “Thanks for the Mammaries!” (developed at Playground-NY) at The Henderson One-Act Play Festival in North Carolina running from August 23rd-25th.
