See what PlayGround-NY Writers and Company are up to this July!

Dana Leslie Goldstein‘s short play EAT DESSERT FIRST will be presented by Valley Players in Napa, CA. Dana’s comic book musical CYCLONE and the Pig-Faced Lady (with music by Rima Fand) will have a developmental workshop at Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga (TN) in July, ahead of a production there in 2024.

Jully Lee is cast in the staged reading of CHINESE REPUBLICANS by Alex Lin, directed by Chay Yew, at the Eugene O’Neill Playwrights Conference with performances on June 29 and July 1. She is also cast in HELLO KITTY MUST DIE, a new musical based on the novel by Angela Choi, which will premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in August. For more information, click here.

Jayne Deely‘s “unqle play” has been selected as a finalist for the 2023 Fulton Theatre’s Festival of New Works, taking place in Lancaster, PA in August. For more information, click here.

Sheila Collins has been tapped to direct a play for The Magnetic Theatre’s annual One-Act Play festival in Asheville, NC. This will be Sheila’s very first turn as a director and she is extremely excited about the project and grateful for the Theatre’s trust in her abilities as a performance artist. “The Magnetic Theatre nurtures and produces new works, focusing on local and emerging playwrights.” Sheila will direct Speed Dating, which runs from August 4th through August 13th. Nathaniel P. Claridad will be directing A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM at Weathervane Theatre, opening on August 22nd. After that he will be directing THE PROM at the University of Maryland, College Park.

Olivia Songer will be the directing fellow at Chautauqua Theater Company this summer!
