Michael Hagins‘ play The Senator Speaks is running at the American Theatre of Actors (ATA) Sergeant Theater, exploring pressing issues such as reproductive rights and gun control. Part of the African American Playwrights Initiative, the production runs February 27 – March 8 at various times. More info & tickets here
Patience Haggin’s play Death by Negroni took the stage at London’s Union Theatre on February 18, presented by Working Girls Theatre. An excerpt from Hugo Spritz with a Twist, a play Haggin translated from Italian, will have a reading at University of Oxford’s Trinity College on March 4. Additionally, Titus Covidius, which debuted at PlayGround New York’s Shakespeare Multiverse Monday Night PlayGround, has been named a finalist in Trinity Theatre Company’s New Works Festival.
Danielle E. Moore’s musical Ink & Paint, which tells the story of the first women to work in Disney Animation’s story department in the 1940s, will have staged readings at The Media Theatre in Media, PA, on March 7, 8, and 9. Julia Crowley & Bailey Jordan Garcia have developed KIK, streaming in First Kiss Theater’s FebLab on Monday, March 10. A live viewing party will be held at Easy Lover in Brooklyn. More info & tickets here.
Nathaniel P. Claridad has been nominated for Outstanding Director for his work on Petite Rouge: A Cajun Red Riding Hood at Imagination Stage. The production has also received seven additional nominations, including Outstanding Musical Production! He continues as the City Center Encores Directing Fellow in association with The Drama League for the 2024/2025 season and is currently working on Love Life, directed by Victoria Clark (opening March 26).
Jully Lee will be performing in the reading of The Lantern Bearer: Seven Vignettes of Anna May Wong by AJ Layague at EST-LA on March 29. She will also be teaching and performing in LA Theatresports at The Garry Marshall Theatre on March 29, alongside Dan O’Connor and Edi Patterson.
Uma Incrocci’s short play The Oyster will be featured in Little Fish Theatre’s 23rd Annual PICK OF THE VINE Short Play Festival, running April 18 – May 11 in Los Angeles. More info here.
Dana Leslie Goldstein’s short play Red in the Morning will be produced as a Lights Up! podcast by the Ensemble Theatre of Chattanooga (TN). Meanwhile, her play Comfort and Joy—first presented by PlayGround-NY in December 2024—will be part of the Fresh Fruit Festival at Theatre for the New City in NYC.
