Louis DeVaughn Nelson has two interdisciplinary works combining theatre and dance that are happening this November! First up, SIS! WHITE MALE! an interdisciplinary performance as part of the PARDON THE INTERRUPTION: A Curated Performance Series. It will be held at The Center at West Park – New York, NY (UWS). Residency: October 28th – November 3rd, Open Rehearsal: October 28th @ 7:30PM, Performances: November 4 -6 @ 7:30PM. Louis DeVaughn Nelson will ALSO be presenting THE ANIMALS ARE HAPPIER WITHOUT US on Sunday, November 21st – a collaboration between choreographer, composer, and dancer using experimental methods to create a piece about how animals/nature were affected by the pandemic. This will be a part of the Works in Progress (WIP) Series at The School of Contemporary Dance and Thought  – Northampton, MA. A satirical monologue he wrote about a “melanin uptake re-inhibitor” called “Coontz” will be a part of The PlayGround Experiment’s 3rd Annual PGE Faces of America Monologue Festival on Saturday, November 20th – to be presented virtually. His play SUPPORTING ACTORS has been chosen for the 2021 Know Theatre Artists & Playwrights Festival. Writers were asked to select a painting from a curated collection and develop a piece inspired by it – the play’s Logline: Three film actors on set of a new film argue about which chicken sandwich is more problematic: Popeye’s or Chick-fil-a. Phanésia Pharel is acting as dramaturg for viBe Company’s “Insomnia” a healing ritual where a collective of black girls reclaim their dreams and fight the nightmare of oppression they’re constantly under. Cat Wiley’s play, TAKE IT BACK is opening on Nov 4, with performances Nov 4, 6 and 7. TAKE IT BACK, inspired by the Republican party mantra of “taking back” the country, is a brief interrogation of white supremacy.
