See what PlayGround-NY Writers and Company are up to this October!

Uma Incrocci‘s short play The Oyster (which debuted at PlayGround-LA) will be performed at Southeast Missouri State University Oct 24 -26 as part of an evening featuring the top ten short plays from the 2024 Lanford Wilson Playwright Festival.

Patience Haggin’s play Titus Covidius, which was part of the PlayGround New York Multiverse Festival in January 2024, is getting another staged reading. It will be part of Second Sunday Serials at Heller Theatre in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Thanks to PlayGround for inspiring it, and thanks to the brilliant PlayGround artists who brought it to life.

Tyler Kent is leading the opening of a new bar in the theater district in Midtown Manhattan. Backstage Bar – a speakeasy themed after the neighborhood’s historic theaters – will open later this fall, down the block from City Center.

Bailey Jordan Garcia has a couple of exciting things coming up this October! First, they’re going to be acting in a staged reading of Lee Harrison Daniel’s “If the World Really Ends on Friday” on October 5th at 9:30pm at Paradise Factory. Also, the company Bailey co-founded, “Fresh Binder Productions”, is starting their 2024 Fall Writer’s Cohort. This cohort consists of trans/non-binary playwrights who will write and workshop 10 minute pieces under a collective theme — to be performed in a staged reading sometime in December.

Nathaniel P. Claridad has been named the 2024 Drama League Directing Fellow at City Center. He will assist on “Ragtime”, “Urinetown”, “Love Life”, and “The Wild Party”. In November he will direct “Petite Rouge” at Imagination Stage in Maryland.

Austin Ku will be directing a TBA new short musical in concert as part of NAAP Project’s “Discover: New Musicals” concert on October 14 evening at Theater 315 (315 w 47th).
